The Seedling
Bespoke research £25 per hour + expenses (documents, travel, photography etc). As research is unpredictable, I tend to offer blocks five hour targeted research and then discuss where we go next based on the finding & analysis.
The type of research that would fit into this category might be:Interpreting a WW1 or WW2 service record
visiting archives that are difficult for you to get tohelping when your research has hit a brick wall information on your ancestors village, town, church, occupation
add on research or services to one of my packages e.g. researching the siblings of an ancestor, production of a presentation folder, researching a house, quick local look ups
Great for clients with a specific question and a flexible pay as you go option. I can pretty much research anything history related so set me a challenge!!
The Sapling
- This is to research two generations from a named person including the maternal and paternal lines and includes:
a full report
up to 5 GRO certificates
a family tree
all relevant census returns
This typically takes your family back into the 19th Century and would include the parents and grandparents of the person named.
Great for clients wanting an easy to understand, verified basic family tree

The Tree
This is to research three generations from a named person including the maternal and paternal lines includes:
full report
up to 15 GRO certificates
a family tree
any relevant census returns
This typically takes your family back into the early 19th Century and includes parents, grandparents & great grandparents of the person named.
Great for clients wanting a multi-generational look at their ancestors
Price £595
The Forest
Four generations from a named person choosing either the maternal OR paternal line and includes:
full report
up to 15 GRO certificates
a family tree
any relevant census returns
any wills
This typically takes your family back into the 19th Century and possibly the late 18th Century and includes parents, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents of the person named.
Great for those wanting a comprehensive look at their ancestors
Price £ 850
Caveat: Should research progress beyond 1837 ancestors can become elusive due to a lack of national and/or comprehensive local records, should this happen the full charge is still applicable as the same amount of research needs to be undertaken.
The Poppy The WW1 Soldier Package
Bring your ancestor's wartime story into focus. This specialist package uncovers the military journey of your ancestors who served in the British Armed Forces during the Great War, with deep dive expertise in the Lincolnshire Regiment.
Including:
- Service & Pension Records: Service records (where they survive) and pension ledger cards.
- Medal Roll Index Cards: Detailed analysis of the medals awarded (such as the Victory Medal, British War Medal, or 1914/15 Star)
- War Diary Insights: Extracts from Battalion War Diaries.
- Casualty & Bureau Records: Search of Commonwealth War Graves Commission records and Soldiers Died in the Great War registers, if applicable.
Price: £250
Note: If no service records survived the 1940 Blitz bombings, I will maximise the use of War Diaries and Medal Rolls to reconstruct their story.

Every project is delivered within 4-6 weeks from the date your upfront deposit is paid and the initial family details are provided
Are there any hidden costs?
No for my Sapling, Tree and Forest packages, the price you see is exactly what you pay. All official birth, marriage and death certificates are included (as stated above).
How do Payments work?
i operate on a transparent 50% up front, 50% on completion payment model for all fixed price packages. Before starting work, we will decide on a fixed number of hours for the hourly seedling package.

- Full name of the person/people to be researched
- Approximate date and place of birth.
- abode (if known).
- Any surviving details.
